What is Two-Factor Authentication

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a way to require two or more steps from more than one device to confirm you are allowed into a system.

This short video explains Two-Factor Authentication, how it works and why it is so important to help secure your data and accounts.  Explained by Network People President Nate Freeman and CIO Corey Joy.

Better Security

Better security is important and so now especially with so many of us working remotely.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a way to require two or more steps from more than one device to confirm you are allowed into a system.

These includes:

  • Something that you are
  • Something that you know
  • Something that you have
  • Some place where you are

Many 2FA systems require you to have your password (what you know) and then a code could be sent to you on your phone (something you have) where you would then enter the code (the “second factor”) to finalize authentication.

Hackers are so sophisticated now that using just a password by itself may not be enough to protect yourself correctly.
